Located in northern Florida, Madison Blue spring is excellent for the cave diver and spring enthusiast.
Featuring a large spring basin, Madison Blue has a cavern at a depth of about 30 feet. The cave diver can continue further through several hundred feet of cave passage way. The spring clarity is dependant upon the level of the adjoining Withlacoochee River. Heavy rainfall rises the river and causes zero visibilty in the basin. But when the conditions are right, this spring is extrneley blue and clear and is well worth the trip.
The state of Florida owns the land, but Madison county operates the park. Scuba diving is allowed only to certified cave divers. Must have C-card. There is a fee.
Directions:
From US90 and SR6, head east on SR6 7.5 miles to a Withlacoochee bridge. The park is to the right.
